Laser Hair Removal
Medical Grade ALEXANDRITE & Nd:YAG Laser For All Skin Types
Say hello to medical-grade Laser Hair Removal & enjoy the freedom of being ready at a
moment'
At Beauty Concept, our most popular treatment is laser hair removal. Using the latest laser
technology, we have treated hundreds of clients in Colchester. Our lasers feature a unique
dynamic cooling device that helps to calm, soothe and protect the skin. Shaving, waxing,
epilating and other forms of hair removal can be costly and time-consuming. They can also
irritate the skin, cause ingrown hairs and leave you with spots, bumps or scars.
Laser hair removal is recommended as an effective treatment for hirsutism (excess hair
growth in women with PCOS). Statistics show that after a full course, between 70% and 85%
of targeted hair will be reduced or permanently removed.Alexandrite laser – 755 nm is
designed to work for clients with dark hair and lighter skin tones.Nd:YAG laser – 1064 nm
works best on clients who have a darker skin tone.
Our Hair Removal treatment benefits greatly from Mixing Technology, which combines the
strengths of both the Alexandrite and Nd:YAG 1064 nm lasers. This approach effectively
treats "borderline" skin types where Alexandrite alone may be too harsh, and Nd:YAG alone
may not be as effective or too painful. The simultaneous use of both lasers enhances safety
and improves results for all skin types. Additionally, Mixing Technology can reduce white
and grey hairs by up to 60% in 4 sessions.

Growth!
• Are you wasting a lot of time and money on hair removal?
• Do you suffer from ingrown hair, shaving rash or stubble?
• Are you tired of pigmentation & uneven skin left behind after constant shaving or
waxing?
• Do you tend to your frustrating, unwanted facial or body hair again and again to keep
your skin smooth?
• Is your excessive or unsightly body hair upsetting and difficult or inconvenient to
remove?
• Do you struggle dealing with your excess unwanted hair and feel embarrassed about
it?
How Laser Hair Removal Works
Both Alexandrite and Nd Yag uses concentrated laser energy to target the hair follicles in the
treatment area. Laser heating damages the follicle, causing current hair to shed and making it difficult for future hair to grow. The treatment leaves surrounding skin and tissue intact,
minimising discomfort and downtime after the procedure.
In addition to the general unwanted hair removal, laser hair removal has been proven to be
very effective for the specific removal of hair that causes irritation. These include ingrown
hair, razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae), pilonidal cysts, excess hair associated with
birthmarks, or post-surgical procedures (grafts).
Laser Hair Removal Consultation
Prior to treatment, a free consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to
confirm suitability for treatment. The consultant will explain the process to you and decides
which laser will be used on appropriate settings. She will answer any questions you have and
carries out a patch test on each area.
The patch test will give you an idea of how the treatment will feel. This is also a good
opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
The laser consultant will then advise you on the best course of treatments to achieve your
goal. The recommendation is a minimum of 6 sessions usually. Before treatment commences
you must provide written consent.
Our FAQs section below covers many of the aspects covered in the consultation. Following
the consultation, if you choose to go ahead, you can start the treatment from as early as 7
days later.
After A Laser Hair Removal Treatment
The skin may be red immediately after the treatment. Also, the hair follicles where the skin
has been treated may be raised and bumpy. This usually subsides within a few hours but can
take up to 2 weeks for some clients. A very few people experience itching a few days later as
the hair is pushed out.
The hair growth slows considerably following a laser treatment. It usually takes 2-3 weeks at
which point the dead hair will fall out. New hair follicles will then grow, which are usually
less coarse.
After 1-3 sessions, the area can begin to look patchy as certain hair follicles will stop
producing new hair. After 4-6 treatments, the hair should be significantly reduced, and after
6-12 sessions, we can achieve up to 90% reduction.
The Main Benefits Of Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is the most effective method for achieving permanent reduction. After
6-12 sessions, you can achieve up to 90% reduction. Compare this to a lifetime of shaving or
waxing. Laser hair removal is an investment and more economical in the long run.
The laser is also extremely effective at treating ingrown hairs. After 2-4 sessions you will
notice a significant if not complete removal of ingrown hairs. The bumps, redness and
skin pigmentation caused by ingrown will also clear up as leaving the skin healthier and
smoother.

FAQ’S
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
This treatment uses concentrated laser energy to target the hair follicles in the treatment area.
Laser heating damages the follicle, causing current hair to shed and making it difficult for
future hair to grow. The treatment leaves surrounding skin and tissue intact, minimising
discomfort and downtime after the procedure.
In addition to the general removal of unwanted hair, laser hair removal has been proven to be
very effective for the specific removal of hair that causes irritation, such as in ingrown hair,
razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae), pilonidal cysts, excess hair associated with
birthmarks, or post-surgical procedures (grafts).
Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Absolutely, laser hair removal is safe when it is performed by an experienced, qualified
provider. The laser targets only the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. You
may experience some redness, but this should subside within 24 hours. The devices we use
for this treatment have also been approved by the FDA for hair removal. The procedure has a
long track record of safety and success.
Is Laser Hair Removal Right For Me?
Treatment is safe on all skin types and colours, so it’s suitable for anyone looking for
permanent, silky-smooth results. As the laser is attracted to the pigment of the hair follicle,
the only consideration is whether your unwanted hair has enough pigment to be treated. Your
practitioner will discuss this in your free consultation.
When Will I See Results?
You might start to see some shedding within days of your first treatment session. However,
due to the growth cycle of hair, clients require a series of appointments to achieve a full
outcome. Those results will become evident within a few days after your last.
How Long Does The Results Last? How Long Does The Results Last?
The results from Laser Hair Removal treatment are permanent in most cases. Since hair
grows in different cycles at different times, it takes a series of treatment sessions to eliminate
all the hair in a single area. However, once the results are achieved, the hair reduction is long-lasting and even permanent for some clients. Others may find that a touch-up session every year or two will keep them silky smooth.
Where On My Body Can I Have This Treatment?
Anywhere there is hair with enough pigment to attract the laser light. Laser Hair Removal is
safe and effective on the full body, even on sensitive areas.
Does it worth getting laser hair removal?
If you sum up the amount you spend on razors or bikini wax courses in your life, it might be
worth £93-£300 per session for hair removal with laser. So consider laser hair removal as a
beauty investment. Always chose a clinic that provides the latest technology lasers and the
treatment performed by a trained technician to avoid burns or scars on the skin.
Is laser hair removal suitable for darker skin types?
Yes, laser hair removal is suitable for darker skin types. We use the ND: Yag laser for Asian
and Black skin. This laser penetrates deeper than most lasers, missing the upper layers of skin where the skin pigment lies, therefore it is one of the safest lasers on the market for laser hair removal and side effects are very low!
How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?
Each area can vary depending on what body part you are planning to treat. For example,
underarms can take 10 minutes, and half arms or lower legs from 30 minutes, full back and
shoulders from 60 mins to full body which can take 3 hours.
Why is my hair still growing after laser hair removal?
Immediately after one laser treatment, the hair still sits inside the follicles and over the course
of around 2 weeks, the hair push out the follicles as if still growing, but then they shed out the
follicles completely.
If the hair is still growing after your recommended package, you would need to follow up
with top-up treatments to further weaken the hairs’ roots and the environment that grows
them. Laser hair removal is not always 100% everything gone forever, so top-ups are
recommended for the finer remaining hairs.
How soon after my course will I need top ups?
To answer this you will need to book a free review after your course is complete. The best
time to book your review is 12 weeks after the final session on the body or 6 weeks on the
face. Most clients are aware from the consultation that the upper body has more hair follicles so it’s usually best to start the second course of laser on the upper body/face straight after the first course finishes for optimum results. To answer this you will need to book a free review after your course is complete.
Can I shave between sessions?
Yes of course! It is fine to shave or trim if you see any growth.
What happens if you don’t shave before laser hair removal?
In some cases, we ask clients not to shave a particular area so we can see where the specific hair growth is. We would then shave it off at the clinic, but in most cases, we require all clients to fully shave the area as the laser needs the full focus of its energy right through the hair follicles and also needs to impact the bulb of the hair. If the hair is on the skin’s surface,it is not suitable to treat over that hair without shaving as it is less effective, more of a risk to the skin, and it will be much more painful for the client.
Laser Skin Resurfacing:
Two lasers combined in one treatment. Improves uneven pigmentation and skin rejuvenation
in one treatment. The Mixed Technology Laser Skin Treatment is a new technique made
possible by our state-of-the-art Quanta Duetto laser machine.
Key Things To Know About Skin Rejuvenating?
Causes:
As we grow older the collagen within our skin begins to break down, resulting in loss of
volume, elasticity, and undefined facial contours. Also, as our skin ages or from excess sun
exposure, discoloration, or pigments (freckles, age spots, and sun damage) can appear.
Treatments:
The MT Laser Skin Resurfacing/Rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that encourages
collagen regeneration , improves pores, sun damaged pigmented skin and aids in reducing
enlarged pores, fine line and wrinkles.
We achieve this with the high melanin absorption of the Alexandrite (755nm) and the safety
profile and haemoglobin absorption of the ND:YAG(1065nm).
The use of Mixted Technology ( MT) in this treatment is perfect for skin rejuvenation and
pigmented lesions in one treatment .
Skin Rejuventing/Anti Aging:
Poor skin laxity (tighten the collagen fibres), fine lines, uneven skin tone/texture, enlarged
pores. Can also be used safely as a brightening eye treatment for dark circles.

Causes
A hectic lifestyle, the natural aging process, smoking and lack of sleep can all result in
premature skin aging. We also forget to drink enough water or apply moisturising cream and
sun protection as frequently as we should, which can result in dehydrated and tired – looking
skin, as well as an uneven skin tone.
Treatment
Our Duetto Evo Nd:Yag short pulse laser that bypasses the surface of the epidermis and
penetrates deep into the skin where most of our skin concerns live. It will stimulate the skin
to reproduce new collagen and elastin for young-looking skin to smooth-out wrinkles and
promote tighter, plumper skin. The laser heats up the cells so that they can retain more water
therefore it will also help to achieve radiant, hydrated, and healthy-looking skin.
At the end of each session, you may notice a slight redness on the treated areas, but this will
disappear within a short time.
Laser Acne Removal:
Acne affects more than your skin. We understand how even the mildest breakout can
negatively impact your self-confidence and self-esteem. Acne can range from the occasional
pimple to extreme, ongoing breakouts that might go on for several years. Severe breakouts
have been linked to anxiety and depression in studies. While there is no cure for acne, we
have the expertise, experience, and devices necessary to get it under control with our range of acne treatments.
Breakouts, open pores, sebum, or skin redness.
Causes
Hormonal imbalances, stress, atmospheric pollution, lack of good nutrition – as well as
squeezing – can all cause different types of acne.
Treatment
Our Duetto Evo Nd:Yag short pulse laser that bypasses the surface of the epidermis and
penetrates deep into the skin where most of our skin concerns live . Due to its unique short
wavelength Nd:YAG its used to treat acne by drying up the excess sebum in your pores to
promote acne-fee skin with a smooth texture, tightening of pores and reduction of redness
and discolouration.
Benefits for skin with acne:
-Unclogs pores by vaporising dirt and harmful bacteria
-Calms inflammation
-Reduces redness
-Blends discolouration from acne
Key Things To Know About Acne?
Three processes in the skin can lead to the formation of acne:
• Dead skin cells collect and clog your pores
• Sebaceous glands produce too much oil in the follicles
• Bacteria builds up in your pores, leading to breakouts
Acne is not an infection of the skin, but an inflammatory condition. Factors that can increase
your likelihood of a breakout include:Acne is not an infection of the skin, but an inflammatory condition.
Factors that can increase your likelihood of a breakout include:
• Genetics
• Hormones
• Stress
• Mechanical causes such as makeup or dirt accumulated during a workout
• Diet (studies have suggested foods such as milk and refined, processed foods that
contribute to a high glycemic diet may result in acne)
Acne can develop almost anywhere on the body and most commonly appears on the face,
neck, chest, back, and shoulders. While blackheads and whiteheads (also known as
comedones) are the most common acne lesions, other types can develop as well.
Inflammatory lesions like these are the most likely to leave scarring behind:
• Papules – small, red, and raised bumps, may be tender but often are not
• Pustules – small, red pimples containing white or yellow pus, can be tender
• Nodules – solid, inflamed, often painful lumps beneath the skin’s surface
• Cysts – large, soft, usually painful lumps containing pus deep beneath the skin’s
surface
Laser Pigmentation Lesions Removal:
Ideal for: Café au laits, Solar lentigo (sun spots ), Age spots, Freckles, Non -raised pigmented spots(moles).
Key Things To Know About
Causes:
If you have unwanted marks on your skin, you are not alone – half of us have discolouration
or pigments (freckles, age spot, and sun damage), which can appear as our skin ages or from excess sun exposure, can even be present since birth or after skin injury or pregnancy.
Treatment:
Our Duetto Evo Alexandrite (755nm) is capable to emit extremely short pulses that can
selectively interact with the undesired melanin concentrations of the skin spots removing
them quickly and effectively. It can blend skin discolouration or pigments such as freckles,
age spots and sunspots to make your skin healthier and more resilient.
During this procedure, the laser is absorbed only by cells that contain excessive
concentrations of pigment, and without affecting the surrounding tissue. Immediate darkening
of the targeted area can be seen after the treatment, and for 7 to 10 days the area will look like a dark scab before it sheds and take the pigment with it.
Benefits for skin with pigmentation:Benefits for skin with pigmentation:
-Reduces discolouration by breaking up unwanted pigment for a smoother, blemish-free skin
-Fading skin imperfections caused by sun, uneven skin tones, age.
-Restoring the skins natural luminosity
-Can lift up brown and red spots

The treatment is basically painless; it is possible to perceive just a light pricking sensation.
Soon after the treatment, the client could feel a light discomfort that will disappear in the next
few minutes.
What to do after the treatment?
It will be possible to note redness on the treated area, but it will tend to tone down just in few
hours. The treated spot could darken usually for about one to two weeks. It will be important
to avoid the use of cosmetics and hot water on the treated area for two or three days after the treatment. The client will also have to protect the skin with sunscreens for four or five weeks after the session.

Laser Fungal Nail Treatment:
The infected nail becomes thickened, discoloured (yellow) and often crumbly, it becomes
impossible to cut down and takes on a unique odour.
Key Things To Know About Nail Fungal ?
Causes:The causes of nail fungus infection are numerous, and a combination of the most causes usually leads to infected nails, whether that is toenails or fingernails that have the fungal infection.
Nails with damage to the nail plate and the seal at eighter end of the nail are most at risk from fungal nail infection. Also, a common skin infection known as athletes foot, usually present between the toes, then invades the nail and causes the fungus problem.
Foot fungus thrive upon the conditions in the shoe and 30%of people complaining of fungal
toenail infection also suffer from athletes foot infection. The hot sweaty environment found
in the shoe are ideal for the fungi to grow and to spread on the toenails. Fungal infections are
caused primarily by dermatophyte, candida, and various yeasts and moulds found in these
conditions.
Serious medical conditions such as poor circulation and diabetes can lead to worsening
conditions and occasionally a secondary bacterial infection.
Use of common towels, walking barefoot on contaminated surfaces and the use of non-sterile equipment for toenail cutting and filling can cause the nail fungus infection.
Treatment:
The Duetto Evo Nd:YAG laser, which we use actually targets the pigment within the fungus.
As the pigment within the fungus absorbs the pulsed light energy a rapid increase in
temperature occurs, denaturing the fungus and getting to the source of the problem
immediately. The micro pulses of light from the Nd:YAG laser pass through the toenail to the
fungus underneath, targeting the fungus without causing and damage to the surrounding nail
or skin.

FAQ’S:
How long does the treatment take?
We allocate half an hour for your appointment and the laser takes 15-20 minutes .
Can I have just one nail treated?
All the clinical studies involving laser treatment for fungal nail infection have always treated
all ten nails. This is to reduce the chance of cross infection and to maximise the chance of
treatment success.
The only exception to this policy is for fingernails. Fingernails are not close packed in dark
moist environments and such the risk of cross infection is negligible.
The toenails in particularly, as they are tightly packed in socks and shoes, are a high risk for
fungal spores spreading.
Is there any Pre-Treatment advice?
Since nail fungus can look like other conditions, including psoriasis, prior to the treatment,
we suggest you visit a Chiropodist/Podiatrist to confirm the diagnosis of fungal nail, and have
the nail paired down if necessary and they might scrape off some of the affected part and send it to the lab to figure out what’s causing the problem. Please bring a spare pair of clean socks to wear after the treatment.
Make sure you are NOT on any of these listed prescribed treatments while having laser
treatment: topical cream that goes directly on the nail, topical nail lacquers or an antifungal
prescription pills.Since nail fungus can look like other conditions, including psoriasis, prior to the treatment, we suggest you visit a Chiropodist/Podiatrist to confirm the diagnosis of fungal nail, and have the nail paired down if necessary and they might scrape off some of the affected part and send it to the lab to figure out what’s causing the problem. : What can I do to reduce the risk of reinfection?
Steps should definitely be taken to avoid re-infection, this is because the infection can return
if the fungus or athlete’s foot infection is able to gain access to the nail or foot. We suggest
that you :
-Wash your feet every day and dry well between your toes
-Apply Dactarin, or another anti-fungal cream or tea tree solution twice a day, morning, and
night after washing feet to the nail bed in-between treatments but stop 48 hours before next
laser treatment.
-Keep nails short and cut straight across and always cut infected nails last
-Disinfect nail clippers and scissors after use and soak in bleach
-Always wear clean socks daily and wear clean socks at night time as the fungus can spread
onto bed clothes.
-Where possible, wear open toe sandals without socks whilst treatment continues however, if
you must wear enclosed shoes, always wear clean socks.
-Wear flip flops or equivalent when showering or in public bathing areas
-Do not share towels with anyone
-Disinfect shower / bathroom floor with bleach
-Wash bedding, socks, towels etc. on a 60 degree wash
-If possible, throw old shoes and slippers away and disinfect shoes with anti-fungal product
frequently
-Limit nail polish use – this can trap moisture and worsen the infection.
How many and how often treatments are needed?
In general, mild infection will need a minimum of 4 – 6 treatments every ten days and 6
month regrowth to see a significant clearing. Severe infection will take anything from 6-12
treatments weekly to see a difference after 8-12 months.
Laser Warts & Verrucea Treatment:
Warts and verrucae are small lumps on the skin that most people have at some point in their
life. Warts feel firm and rough. They can appear on palms, knuckles, knees, and fingers. They
are usually skin coloured but may appear darker on dark skin. Warts do not cause any harm
but can feel itchy, painful, or embarrassing. Verrucae appear on your feet, have tiny black
dots under the hard skin but they are more likely to be painful-like standing on a needle.
Key Things To Know About Nail Fungal ?
Causes:
They are caused by certain strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV). The virus is present
in the skin cells of a wart. HPV is a family of viruses that affects the skin and moist
membranes of the body.
Treatment:
There have been a number of clinical studies which suggest that the long-pulsed Nd:YAG can be used to successfully treat mild warts and verrucae. Long-pulsed laser treatment use a
deep-penetrating beam of light to create an intense heating sensation, helping to destroy wart and verruca tissue. Although it is usually reserved for the largest and most difficult cases of warts and verrucae’s, laser removal does not guarantee results.
